Message from District Governor C Suresh

My warm Rotary greetings and good wishes to you.

At the outset Madhu and I convey our hearty SANKARANTI greetings to you and your family.

A wink of the eye and six months of our year together have gone by. We have basked in the glory of working hand-in-hand, unstintedly striving to achieve our cherished goals. We still have quite sometime to go, and the time to look back, to review, will be in June 2010, at our Awards Nite, when we shall take stock of what we have accomplished.

It is now time for our grand ANNUAL EVENT, our DISTRICT CONFERENCE to be held on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th February 2010 at Hyderabad’s state of the art Auditorium, SHILPAKALA VEDIKA, Hitech City, to be held under the able chairmanship of PP Dayanand Gauri with excellent assistance from other wonderful Rotarians from my home club, the Rotary Club of Secunderabad.. Aptly christened ‘SANGAMAM’ or ‘The Confluence’ our District Conference will drive home the message that Rotary represents a meeting or the merging of like minded friends, united together in the cause of doing good in the world, standing for eternal values in a seemingly changing society, proclaiming that humankind is nothing but ONE WORLD, ONE FAMILY.

SANGAMAM will afford every Rotarian the opportunity to make new friends while renewing old friendships and will offer on display some of the finest speakers from all over India, providing assured value addition from the stand point of personal growth and development. My friends, this is YOUR CONFERENCE, it is OUR CONFERENCE – as in the past, I look forward to your active and enthusiastic participation in large numbers. Let us all together make SANGAMAM a memorable event in the history of District 3150.

Admiral Ramdas, the former chief of the Indian Navy will be our Chief Guest at the Inaugural Session of our Conference in the morning of 6th February. An outstanding speaker he is a fine exemplar of physical fitness and intellectual integrity. Please do not miss his presentation on ‘ WORLD UNDERSTANDING AND PEACE.’ PDG Krishna Ranga, the dynamic and affable Rotary Leader from RI District 3180 and his gracious spouse Suma will be the representatives of RI President John Kenny and Anne June at our Conference and we are all sure to be inspired by their presence. PDG Deepak Kapur, Chairman, India National Polio Plus Committee and one of the finest speakers in the Rotary circuit will be a star attraction at SANGAMAM, while Professor Sanjoy Mukherjee from the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata will be delivering an address to cherish and remember. Yet another fine speaker PDG Kamal Sanghvi from RI District 3250, Dhanbad will address us on the ‘Joys of Rotary Membership’, while, on popular demand, Shri Garikapati Narasimha Rao will address us on ‘ Sneham dwara Seva’, in his inimitable style laced with wit and humour.

The evening of the 6th February’10 will be an occasion for fun and fellowship with the ‘JAL VIHAR’ on Necklace Road, Hyderabad providing the ideal setting for an evening of gaiety and entertainment. On display will be our in house talent, with Rotarians, Annes and Annets from various clubs making cultural presentations with a D J providing foot tapping music. Madhu and I are pleasantly amazed at the tremendous response from all our Rotarians and Annes for the cultural evening – our many thanks to each one of you!

On the 7th of February we begin our day with a one hour spiritual session on ‘Meditation’ by Shri Subash Pathriji of the Pyramid Spiritual Societies Movement which will be followed by a top class presentation on FITNESS FOR LIFE by Dr. Baktiyar Chaudhury. Mrs. Gowri Ramnarayan, grand daughter of the legendary singer Smt M S Subbalakshmi and Deputy Editor with THE HINDU at Chennai, and an eloquent speaker, will be addressing us on ‘ART and CULTURE vis-à-vis world peace. The incoming and outgoing GSE Teams will also be with us at the session on The Rotary Foundation. Noted singer and speaker GHAZAL SRINIVAS is also expected to be with us on the 7th afternoon.

Indeed my friends SANGAMAM- our District Conference is sure to be an affair to remember, providing us all two days of Infotainment, Fellowship and Fun. Notwithstanding the costs involved in organising the event at some of our finest venues with a fine variety of gourmet cuisine on offer, the delegate fee has been reasonably fixed at Rs 1500/- per Rotarian and Rs 2500/- per couple. TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS will be made on both the days for the convenience of delegates. Spread the good word and register early. I request all my Assistant Governors and Presidents to give me the number of delegates from each club – latest by the 30th of January – this will go a long way in helping us organise the event efficiently.
